Social Literacy Book E3
The World and Me extends the concepts of 'groups' and 'connections' through an investigation of Australian history, transport and government. It also examines, in cross-cultural comparison, the different ways in which Australia was divided into parts before and since 1788. Then, students go on to examine a broadening series of contexts in which they are situated: countries, continents, the world the universe. The Social Literacy Project has developed this unit as part of an interdisciplinary social science course for primary and secondary schools. The goal of social literacy is for students to develop a framework of social concepts as tools for social understanding and active, confident social participation.
