Social Literacy Book E6
The World in Australia explores some of the ways in which Australia is connected with the rest of the world. Using concepts of interconnectedness introduced in previous units in this series, it goes on to examine international links such as trade and introduces the issues of immigration and multiculturalism. These questions are further developed in the following two units, on prejudice, stereotypes and racism, and families. The Social Literacy Project has developed this unit as part of an interdisciplinary social science course for primary and secondary schools. The goal of social literacy is for students to develop a framework of social concepts as tools for social understanding and active, confident social participation.
