Social Literacy Book E5
This book explores concepts of choice and decision making through practical experiences and facing dilemma situations It investigates different methods of decision making, individually and in groups. The concepts developed are then applied in a study of local government and the local community. Making Choices and Decisions builds on concepts of groups and connections developed in earlier units of this series and lays a foundation for understanding responsibility for breaking connections through prejudice, stereotypes and racism (Unit 7) and for connections within families (Unit 8). The Social Literacy Project has developed this unit as part of an interdisciplinary social science course for primary and secondary schools. The goal of social literacy is for students to develop a framework of social concepts as tools for social understanding and active, confident social participation.
